A friend of mine purchased one of your pieces titled "A Chemical Romance" and I can't stop thinking about it since I saw it this past weekend! Very haunting and deep. Your work is amazing - I hope you have a show in Los Angeles soon!

Ohh! That's an older one of mine -- really great she was supporting me back in the beginning ^___^
The painting is actually called "Chemical Love" though - I was a little confused for a moment there since I thought you were talking about the band, haha. Thanks for telling me though! Send my thanks to your friend as well ~

hi!
i found your journal through deviantart and i just wanted to say your work is really amazing. :)
i was wondering, do you prefer working with oil or acrylic colors? and what sort of canvas do you usually use?
also i was wondering about when it was that you sold your first painting, and what was it?
sorry, this sounds sort of like a mini-interview, i'm just curious. :)

It does come across like a mini-interview, haha. I'm honoured your curious about my artwork though!

As far as the questions go - I like working with both acrylic and oil equally, though think I may start using water-soluble oils instead (non-toxic). Canvas - sometimes raw that I prime myself, but usually the store-bought pre-gessoed because of it's smoother surface. I sold my first painting when I was 17 for $50 and it was an 'Alice in Wonderland' inspired work about feeling lost as a teenager.

Hope that helps cure some of your curiousity ^__^ Thanks so much for taking the time to find and message me!

Kate!! I miss you too! In fact, I almost felt like crying reading your little message -- it's kind of that time of year too, haha. I have a month left in Toronto, but have been, for the most part, in reclusion out here. Which is odd because there's a million or more just out on the streets ;P

I heard about you having a new little bundle! Your cousin or niece had contacted me a while ago through my art site. Wow, Griffin must be almost 5 soon, if not? I remember trying to carry him at my first art show in milton and feeling like a cripple, haha. I probably couldn't carry him if I wanted to now. I hope you and Ken are doing well and enjoying the growing family! Are you guys still living in Grimsby?

I'm going to see my mom tomorrow - I'll let her know you send your hello's!
But ya, send me an email when you get the chance - maybe this summer I see you guys for a coffee or something : D

Yay!

Sarah!

Tool and Pink Floyd Comparable? I don’t think so.
Maybe only if it comes to variety of song times.
I found it difficult to compare. Does it mean that
I don’t see something?

I can't really say if you don't see something or not - I have no idea what you've listened to or what you think of it? Personally, I can see a lot of comparable points between Tool and PF, though that's not to say they aren't very different... They are ^__^
Tool is certainly darker and more aggressive than PF (which modern rock tends have), but the subject matter (transcendence, authority conflicts, love/hate etc.), the transgression of their songs musically, the importance of the art/visuals within their CD's/videos... Not sure what of Tool's music you checked out, but listen to some of the music off their newest CD (10,000 days) if you hadn't (especially 'wings for marie/10000 days' and 'right in two').

It's always tough to start breaking something down when you're only first getting into it - especially if maybe it's not music of your taste. However, though I found Tool offensive when I first heard it, their now one, if not my favourite modern band.

So ya. If you feel you can put up with the music a little more, I'd fully recommend giving it some more time, though I wouldn't be disappointed if you didn't either, haha. All up to you ^__^
